MEMPHIS, TENN. –
Jerry Lawler spoke for the first time on Monday as the investigation continued into the death of his son, former professional wrestler Brian Christopher Lawler.

Jerry Lawler told WHBQ on the phone that in his last moments he was in the hospital with his son.

He said he had returned to Memphis, Tennessee, on Sunday morning from North Carolina after he got word his son was in
He spent hours with Family One and family around his son's bed.
He said it was not easy, but he said he was glad to hold his son's hand when his heart stopped at 3: 30 pm "

Lawler said his family was so grateful for the support of friends and fans. He said that they had heard of thousands of people.
Lawler told WHBQ that the visit and funeral will take place Friday at Hope Church on Walnut Grove Road. The visit starts at 12.00 and the service starts at 14.00. CDT
He was the son of wrestling royalty, but Brian Christopher Lawler made his own way.
The younger Lawler fought professionally for years under the nickname "Grand Master Sexay."
He was confident, extravagant and loved to host a show. People in the wrestling community shared stories online across the country.

A professional wrestler told of the time when his brother wanted to dance with Brian. After the match, the man wrote, "Brian pulled my brother into the ring to make the floor, such a great memory."
Wrestler Rikishi went to Instagram to say he was Brian's contagious smile, laughing and "his passion to entertain any person he came in contact with."
Brian Lawler had several races -in with the law since 2009. He was indicted with his third DUI offense earlier this month avoided the arrest.
The Sherman's Office in Hardeman County said they had no indication that he was suicidal

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, he was found in his cell and never recovers after being brought to Regional One.
Jerry Lawler spoke briefly about the investigation and said, "There could be more than meets the eye."
The TBI called him this morning and asked him not to comment until their investigation was completed ,
Meanwhile, the wrestling community and the Lawler family continue to be sad.
Fans across the country are remembering the man in the ring who made so many smile.
