Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald reveal the royal inspiration for the name of daughter Ivy Jane

Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald's third child, Ivy Jane, is nearly a month old and the proud parents reveal more details about their birth and the reason they choose their name.

In a video for TLC, the couple said they had a specific historical figure in mind when they chose a name for their first daughter. They also commented on Ivy Jane's sudden arrival almost two weeks before her birth and the frightening story that happened to Jessa after the baby was born.

Ivy Jane was named after a doomed English queen.

When Ben and Jessa revealed their daughter's name, fans immediately wondered if they had any reason to choose Ivy Jane. After all, her other two children have names with a special meaning.

Her first child, Spurgeon, is named after Charles Spurgeon. He was a Baptist preacher who worked in the 1

9th century. The second son Henry Wilberforce has his middle name of William Wilberforce, a British politician from the 18th century, who has contributed significantly to the termination of the slave trade. He was also an evangelical Christian. Henry's first name is an allusion to Matthew Henry, a Christian minister who lived in England in the late 17th and early 18th centuries.

Like her brother's name, the name of Ivy Jane is inspired by a character in the story. Her middle name, Jane, refers to Lady Jane Gray.

"[W] With her middle name, Jane, she was named after Lady Jane Gray, a young lady who was Queen of England for a short time in the 1500s, and she was a very inspiring figure for us," she explained Ben.

Jane Gray was the grandniece of Henry VIII After the death of Henry's son Edward VI, Protestant reformers proclaimed their queen, but Lady Jane's reign lasted only nine days, and Henry VIII's heir and daughter Mary Tudor quickly ascended the throne and Lady Jane was finally executed.

Ivy's Jane's first name was simply chosen by the couple because they liked it.

But she was not quite ready for Ivy Jane's sudden arrival. Jessa went to work 10 days before her expected date of birth, which meant she had to throw her entire birth plan out the window.

"Our birthing plan throughout this pregnancy was that we give birth in a birth suite with a midwife in the hospital," said the 26-year-old. "The morning my water broke, however, was the morning my midwife had left the city for a week." , While Ivy Jane arrived safe and sound after a short spell, there was a scary moment when Jessa was hospitalized for uncontrolled bleeding. Luckily mother and child are fine now.

"We are so thankful to God for this precious gift," the Seewalds told US Weekly. "She is already so loved. Her big brothers love her!
