"I know That it's early, "Carrey wrote in a tongue in cheek tweet  His artwork shows a nipple-drumming trump screaming as he eats a bowl that looks like two scoops of ice cream.
It bears the title: "You scream. I scream. Do we ever stop screaming?

The Smithsonian has not responded to Carrey's submission.
Should Carrey's trump portrait may not be the gallery's taste, perhaps it would look at some of the actor's other recent politically charged plays:
