Jimmy Carter suggests that the US wants an "idiot" in the White House

Former President Jimmy Carter has suggested he considers President Trump an "idiot".

During an interview on Friday on CBS's "The Late Show" starring Stephen Colbert, Carter was asked if he believed that the US wanted an "idiot" President

"Apparently, from this last election year, I have it before never known, "joked Carter.

The 93-year-old told Colbert that "telling the truth" was a feature every president should have, adding that his opinion was recently changed in a subtle allusion to the Trump presidency.

Colbert also asked the one-sided Democratic president if he would run in 2020, to which Carter said he held 93 "for the age limit".

Discusses his new book, Faith: A Journey for All Carter said he often prayed for President Trump. "I pray that he will be a good president and that he will keep our country in peace and that he will renounce the use of nuclear weapons and that he will promote human rights," Carter said.
