The democratic political establishment is calcified and trembling on its aging, aching feet and does not know what to do with Alexandria the Great.
Do you bend the knee? Do you dare to oppose her and the movement she represents?
Meanwhile, Establishment-Republican Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is protesting with the same simple, complacent giggles as Donald Trump once did before being elected President to sensitize them.
In contrast, Democrats see them establishing themselves. She is the face of an energetic movement that goes from left to left. And they can not do anything about it.
They are somewhat scared of her now that she defeated 1
She is a rock star. She looks good on TV. She is young and enthusiastic about young voters who do not like the constant reluctance of Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party, who manipulated the last presidential primary against Sanders, and help launch Trump.
And not some wealthy champagne socialist, but a proper one, a Bernie Sanders organizer, but with a harder edge than the old Bernie. He folded instead of Hillary out of the way. She does not fold. She protects.
Alexandria is a tough leftist, much farther left than the government's big democratic Democratic Party apparatchiks.
The Democrats praise them demonstratively and hope to use them. But you can hear the trembling in their voices, fear that Alexandria the Great – like the little boy in the old "Twilight Zone" episode – would simply kidnap her to the cornfield.
She had a catastrophic coming out on the PBS reboot of "Firing Line", light business questions: "Well, unemployment is low because everyone has two jobs." And although she proved that she has the inner hatred of the left on Israel, she said if she was pressured by geographers on the subject.
Liam Warner of The National Review wrote: "Most of the time, Ocasio-Cortez only opened his mouth to change his feet. "
It was a great line, but it will improve." Their message is not for Republicans, but for the Democratic Party:
ICE (Office of Immigration and Customs) abolish and enforcement at the border effectively quit ; prescribe a minimum wage of $ 15 an hour, promising "free" health care for all and "free" tuition, and hating some hatred of Israel.
You can argue that such policy goals are not that is irrelevant.
Those candidates who refuse to sing this song could, as Lenin said, be "on the wrong side of history."
For the Democrats, the big push to the left could suit the two left-America, but it will not help the working class in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ohio who gave up the Democrats for Trump in 2016.
And it could help Trump in 2020 by making sure the Democrats use a Looney tune.
Mediocre Left of Middle Democrats recently met in Ohio for their Third Way conference, arguing that a Bernie Sanders Progressive was not the way forward. But possible democratic headliners stayed away. They do not want to be ashamed.
The shriek from the Democratic Media Complex helps tie the Democratic tribes against their common orange-haired enemy. But all the wildly emotional virtues have darkened a bit.
It is the legitimate anger of the left, as they were treated in 2016, when the Democrats braced themselves against democracy by manipulating the primaries against Sanders The Sanders voters, many of them young, passionate and idealistic, see the democratic Establishment in much the same way as young libertarians and conservatives viewed the republican establishment in its last political cycle:
Being corrupt, cynical, selfish, and in kind.
Those who understand politics know that Trump was a symptom, not a Reason.
And so is Alexandria the Great.
To their dangers, Republicans mock them without understanding. The Democrats understand, but can not help but rocking at sea in the wind like corks.
