Jonathan Van Ness is happy to blur gender lines

The star and advocate of "Queer Eye" makes headlines because in a recent interview he identified the magazine as non-binary and gender compliant.

Of course, this is not new information.

In April, the hair guru talked to The Lily about his developing gender identity and said, "The older I get, the more I feel as being non-binary or gender-matched."

Van Ness was proud to blur the boundaries of sex with his clothes and style before he and the rest of the Fab Five became breakout stars thanks to their Netflix show.

Van Ness, who confirmed to Out that he still prefers male pronouns, said he only recently noticed that there was a term that reflected his embrace of female fashion.

"I did not think I should not be compliant or gender or not binary, I was always just like a gay man, because that's just the label that I thought I had to be," said he.

He added, "On some days I feel like a man, but on other days I feel like a woman, I do not really know ̵

1; I think my energies are really everywhere … Every opportunity I have I'm in favor of it, I'm in favor of it. "

Van Ness is currently promoting a new partnership with nail polish company Essie, for which he is the first non-female speaker.
