Spoiler for Infinity War can be found in this story if you have not caught the movie yet.
You would think to play a villain like Thanos with seemingly unlimited reserves of strength and game. Goals that change the universe would be a lot of fun. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is not just about fun and games. Josh Brolin, who was to bring Thanos to life on the big screen, said that in a recent interview he focused on creating a "likeable version" of the villainous character. Regardless, there was a scene in Avengers: Infinity War which was harder to shoot. Brolin did not like shooting the scene where he had to suffocate and kill Asgard's adoptive son Loki. He said:
If you've seen Avengers: Infinity War you already know that Loki takes his last breath in the movie. His trickster personality eventually finds himself in trouble as he tries to cross Thanos twice, making it look like he's enriching Thanos and his henchmen as he leaves his brother with a sly speech. But he really stays with his brother and his people because he also has a weapon and tries to use it on Thanos, but gets overwhelmed. The next surprising moments in the film are Josh Brolin's character that suffocates Loki, leading to his ultimate death. It is a death that is likely to persist, even if the clogged people do not, and Tom Hiddleston has already revealed earlier that he knew it would still be a while, even while he Thor: Ragnarok worked.
Speaking to USA Today, Brolin admitted that while his character was smothering Loki, it was not the easiest scene, mainly because of Tom Hiddleston's performance and his ability to jump right into the moment and emote play. Hiddleston plays the character almost as long as the Marvel Cinematic Universe exists, first appears in Thor and becomes a vivacious and beloved villain with a golden heart in the movies. Being so was not the fun Josh Brolin had on set.
Yet not all moments in the movie were so hard to get through. Brolin also showed that he had a lot of fun with some of the other characters as well, especially during the showdown between The Hulk and Thanos in the movie, when Thanos made a cheap hit on Bruce Banner's alter ego. He noted:
Overall, Brolin enjoyed playing Thanos, and he also mentioned that he likes it when people hate the character online, so he's delighted to play the big bad guy. Let's just hope that during the events of Avengers 4 he does not have to produce too many great heroes. But I do not hold my breath in that regard.
Avengers 4 which will not receive an official title for a long time, will be released on May 3, 2019, unless Disney decides to change that date until April. In the meantime, take a look at what Marvel has in store for future fans.
