A federal judge in a closed hearing asked where Paul lies to lie to Manafort because he misinformed the investigators to protect a conspirator in pro-Russian lobby efforts. Judge Amy Berman Jackson in federal court in Washington, DC earlier this week said that because Manafort had lied to the investigators three times, the prosecutors for Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller were not bound by a prior agreement to give him a lighter sentence against his To give cooperation.

"For me, this is definitely an example of a situation where the Special Counsel's office has rightfully concluded that he's lying to minimize things here, he's not coming, that's not it, What cooperation means, "said the judge, according to a sealed record of Wednesday The hearing was published on Friday evening with editors, who were agreed by prosecutors and Manaforts lawyers.

"This is a problematic attempt to shield its Russian conspirators and the question of where its loyalty lies raises legitimate questions," Jackson said, referring to Konstantin Kilimnik.

As the NBC News has already reported, the FBI has claimed that Kilimnik has ties to Russian intelligence services
