Julia Roberts has a new TV show!
Relaxing in a pale blue pants suit and rocking her hair in loose, blond waves, the Oscar winner spoke with reporters from the Summer Television Critics Association about her move from the big screen to the small, upcoming Amazon series Homecoming .
Debut in November, Homecoming which is based on the popular eponymous podcast, follows Roberts' figure Heidi Bergman – a fall victim in a facility for soldiers returning from the war – and their complex relationship to one of the returning veterans, played by newcomer Stephan James. In a second timeline, four years later, when Heidi leaves the facility, she is interviewed by a Defense Department examiner who begins to decipher the reasons for her departure.
Homecoming reunites the 50-year-old actress with her co-star Dermot Mulroney, who, she joked, "finally" plays her boyfriend. "It only took 30 years!"
The Amazon series marks the first television flight for the big screen star, but she said it was an opportunity to work with director Sam Esmail on a deeper story and unravel things "people" she drew to the role
