CHICAGO – "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett, who triggered the rumors in the upcoming NAACP Image Awards in Los Angeles, is a loser.
The controversial television star was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a television drama for his role as Jamal Lyon in The Fox Series, but was replaced by "Gray's Anatomy" star Jesse Williams, ABC.
Smollett was nominated for the prize in four years, winning a series in 2017.

The award was awarded during the competition's show Friday night.
The television part will be broadcast Saturday night.
Before the start of the event, NAACP Image Awards presenter and actor Anthony Anderson said in light of the charges against Smollett, he hopes the "Empire" actor will win for his work on the show.
