MEDFORD, MA (WHDH) – A teenager accused of beating three people in a car in Medford on Sunday, killing one and leaving two in hospital, is in police custody. Officials said.
The boy drove around 16:49 in the area of the spring and emerald roads when he beat and killed a woman, according to a spokeswoman for the Middlesex District Attorney Marian T. Ryan's office.
A preliminary investigation shows that the boy drove down Spring Street and met two more people and a dog before he crashed into a civic bench on Yeoman's Avenue, officials said. These two people, a man and a woman, were taken by ambulance to the Mass General Hospital in Boston. The dog was killed.
The names of the driver and the victims were not published.
In a message on Twitter, Mayor of Medford, Stephanie M. Burke said, "My thoughts and prayers are addressed to all involved in this tragic event." The driver is detained in the Medford Police Department If there's more information available, we'll provide an additional explanation.
