Singer Katy Perry says she uses meditation instead of prescription medications to treat her anxiety.
At Vatican City's Unite to Cure Health Conference on Saturday, Perry spoke at length about how a practice known as Transcendental Meditation (TM) has helped alleviate her stress.
"It helped a lot, so instead of turning to the recipe [drugs]I've been able to turn to it."

Perry made the comments after being criticized earlier this month for helping the tweetered breathing exercises to alleviate her anxiety.

While some praised American Idol for speaking openly about how to deal with anxiety, others accused them of the severity of the medically recognized disorder that is believed to cost 40 million
. US adults are misinterpreted as more than one in ten Americans take antidepre for the treatment of mental disorders, including anxiety.
