The North American Aerospace Command (NORAD) will continue its annual tradition of following the Santa Claus journey on Christmas Eve despite the government's partial government shutdown.
According to a NORAD tweet on Friday, about 1,500 volunteers will assist the military personnel in the persecution of Saint Nick:
As previously reported by HuffPost, in 1955, when a company in Colorado Springs accidentally started calling the number one Santa Hotline printed that children could call on Christmas Eve. Curious kids looking forward to an update on Kriss Kringle's progress are talking to NORAD's predecessor, the Continental Air Defense Command Operations Center.
Col. Harry Shoup and his staff dropped the phone calls and swore the tradition would continue.
