Days after Demi Lovato was hospitalized for a source reporting an overdose of drug abuse, Keith Urban has advice for the 25-year-old pop star.
The 50-year-old country singer, who was open in the past about his struggles with addiction, was told about the Lovato on the Australian morning show Today Extra
"I do not know anything about her personally" Urban admitted but still noticed that. He would say to Lovato: "Only [to have] good people around her and the willingness to live differently if she wants to do it all depends on her."
Like Lovato, Urban was very open about his fight against drug abuse. In a profile for Rolling Stone about his addiction, he admitted that he had once considered taking his own life.
"I did not seem to be able to stop, there was no interruption this time, I went to sleep, woke up a few hours later, went back to it, and drank to keep my mouth shut, I remember thinking "I'll probably make it tomorrow," he reminded himself, adding, "And then I thought, F ** k, I do not care. It will be a relief, not necessarily. I'll take Ambien and eventually I'll come over.
Urban also talked about how he was thinking about that time after he became sober. "Early in my sobriety, there was a time when I wished I was not drugged and anything I did" He said, "It took so much creative time when I was supposed to work in the studio. But I do not know what came out of that time except that I am where I am. Because or despite, nobody knows and will never do it.
Lovato was hospitalized last Tuesday after suffering from an overdose of drugs, several ET sources report.
A representative of Demi previously published an explanation of her condition, saying, "Demi is awake and with her family, who would like to thank everyone for their love, prayers and support. Some of the reported information is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy rather than speculation as their health and recovery is most important right now.
Brad Paisley, one of Land's compatriots, recently a duet with Lovato, took shortly after the message on Twitter to send his good wishes.
"My girlfriend @ Ddlovato is one of the kindest, most talented people, I've ever met. There is no one more honest or brave than this woman, "he tweeted at the time.
