A Kentucky mother was arrested on Wednesday after she forced her 14-year-old daughter to get drunk – to teach her a lesson on alcohol, the police said.
Miranda Polston, 34, was charged with criminal ill-treatment allegedly happened after she caught her daughter drinking alcohol on March 10, the Somerset Police Department told WKYT.
Polston decided to punish the teenager by forcing her to drink alcohol to the point of "extreme poisoning to make her ill," police said.
"Ms. Polston told our detective that she was trying to prove to her daughter that alcohol was bad by forcing her to drink more alcohol," spokesman Captain Mike Correll told LEX 18.
Polston said WKYT is out of jail for planning to fight the charges and the incident is "unfairly perceived."
The authorities were warned of the incident after a video was posted on social media, "Correll told the leader The Lexington Herald.
In the video, the 14-year-old girl sitting on a chair in twos seemed to be holding male teenagers so she would not fall over, one male teenager stopped her while another offered her more alcohol, with the girl made a "gargling sound" before finally falling to the ground.
