Here's how the light bout between Kevin Lee and Edson Barboza broke out in the UFC Atlantic City main event
On Saturday, April 21, the UFC landed in New Jersey to bring fighter-bombers to UFC Atlantic City a light fight between Kevin Lee and Edson Barboza, live from Boardwalk Hall.
Lee, who weighed over the 156-pound limit, wanted his loss-losing to Tony Ferguson in their provisional title fight at UFC 216 in October. "The Motown Phenom" had won his title fight with a win in the first round against Michael Chiesa in the main event fight at UFC Fight Night 1
Barboza was also looking for another win to win the column after they were close to reigning champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in their co-main event fight at UFC 219 shortly before relegation. The setback struck the Brazilian's three-headed winning streak that included a skull-knocking knockout over Beneil Dariush
Round 1 With a touch of gloves, both men met in the middle of the Octagon. Barboza wasted no time and hit Lees midsection with lightning speed. Blocking the attack, Lee responded with his own kick, but could not avoid the Barboza's signature shot to the shin. As he went through the blow, Lee dropped and secured the takedown against the fence.
Lee worked from above on the full mount and looked at rain shots on the skull of his opponent. Narrow is missing with the murderous straight right, Lee found himself in Barboza's full guard again. Lee refused to give in and worked his way back to Mount. As his opponent winds beneath him, Lee comes in contact with a flood of punches followed by a series of elbows on Barbozas battered head.

With two dominant rounds under his belt, Lee seemed to be getting strong again, but found himself at the receiving end of a pair of body kicks. Barboza still showed his life and circled away, attempting a takedown attempt against the fence.
While Lee was stalking him, Barboza joined the Temple of Lee with a highlight reel kick, causing the crowd to go mad. With his legs, Lee fell into the middle of the Octagon and fired into a desperate takedown, hoping to escape the damage.
While he was securing the takedown, Lee could not stop his opponent when Barboza returned to those feet. After a deep breath Barboza found himself at the receiving end of a pair of jabs. Threatening with a flying knee, Barboza tried to keep Lee at bay, but could not avoid another body hit.

With one lap left and Barboza still alive, both men met in the middle of the Octagon. Barboza tried another reverse move and missed his target while trying to see his swollen eyes.
With his opponent looking more like a zombie than a pro, Lee blocks almost every kick before he plays a fence against a takedown. After a pause in the action, the referee called for a break to the action and asked the doctor to check Barboza's swollen and bloody eye.
Almost immediately, the doctor called for an interruption in the fight and gave Lee the fight for the stop victory
