The LA Kings and defender Drew Doughty have agreed to an eight-year extension, Kings VP and General Manager Rob Blake announced today.
"Drew Doughty is one of the best defenders in the world and it's obvious that he was looking forward to reaching that point in the process of dedicating himself to the kings in the long run," Blake said to one Agreement. "This is great news for our organization and our fans and we will post more comments as soon as the contract is signed and officially announced."

Last season, he scored a career-high 60 points (10-50 = 60), a plus-20 rating and 54 penalty minutes, while skating in all 82 regular season games for the fourth consecutive season (328 consecutive games played, only two games timid to tie Anze Kopitar 's Record for most consecutive games played by a Kings player.)
Along with his career-high in points, he also gave a career peak in assists in the past season, leading the NHL in TOI / Gm (26:50 ) and became the first All-Star Team 2017-18 t.

International has represented Doughty Canada several times.
He has appeared at two Olympics, 2014 and 2010, and won the gold medal on both occasions.
In 2016, he played in the World Cup of Hockey, Canada led Canada to the championship in this tournament and defeated Kopitar's Team Europe in the final. In 2009, he won a silver medal at the World Championships in Switzerland as a 19-year-old, one year after the Canadian leadership to the gold medal at the Junior World Championships.
This is the second eight-year extension of Doughty's career decision to sign the only Kings player / sign two contracts for at least eight years. Jonathan Quick signed the longest contract in Team History (10 years) in 2012, and both Dustin Brown (2013) and most recently Captain Anze Kopitar (2016) signed eight years of expansion. They are the only other kings to agree to a contract of eight or more years.
