A person was fatally hit Friday on the LIRR tracks near Woodside Station, causing widespread disruption to morning commuters,
The Long Island Rail Road confirmed that the person died after being short was beaten after 5 am near Woodside in Queens. The police are on the ground, said the LIRR.
In a service consultation, the railroad warned drivers to "expect delays to and from Penn, cancellations and detours this morning". The Port Washington office was unaffected.
According to the railway, there were delays at the Babylon, Far Rockaway, Hempstead, Port Jefferson, Ronkonkoma and West Hempstead branches. Several trains to the west have been canceled.
Long Island Rail Road trains bypass Kew Gardens, Forest Hills and Woodside, the railway company said.
NYC Transit will award tickets for the E-train in Jamaica, Kew Gardens and Forest Hills; for the 2/3 train at Atlantic Terminal and 34th Street; and for the 7 in Woodside, said the LIRR.
Earlier, the LIRR service had been temporarily suspended west between Jamaica and Penn Station.
The MTA did not identify the person or has no further details.
