Belgium vs. England
Match for third place, St. Petersburg Stadium, St. Petersburg
Halftime Update: Belgium 1, England 0
Thomas Meuniers Goal 3 minutes 37 seconds The game remains the only score of the day. It was the fastest goal ever scored by a Belgian player in a World Cup.
It was not a good start for England. It dominated the period of possession, kept the ball 56 percent of the time and scored more shots (3-2), but the Three Lions are still on the track – and did not look as if they had dominated everything. Romelu Lukaku and Harry Kane both remain goalless to hold the Golden Boot race at four goals to six. Lukaku has often received the ball in the opponent's half and has come several times in the 18-meter box. In injury time of the first half, he came to the end of the first half to a 1-1 final score,
The Belgian international Nacer Chadli had in the 37th Minute head to equalize. The Red Devils played with 10 men for a few minutes before Thomas Vermaelen got on in the 39th. Chadli made for the cross of the Belgian lead.
England's defense wobbles
Belgium still has only two shots on goal, but the Red Devils are scoring chances and it feels as if Belgium has missed almost every trip on the pitch. With the opening 30 minutes behind them, the Three Lions should be lucky, they are still only one.
Both sides had opportunities ahead of the nets. The crate stalls two goals per goal, but the goalkeepers had to be active in the first 18 minutes and often came out of the goal to challenge the balls while the attacking players had penetrated deep into the 18-meter box.
That did not take long. Belgians Thomas Meunier received a cross from Nacer Chadli, who put them 1-0 in the fourth minute.
Meunier was suspended because of yellow card suspension against France. Belgium lost this game 1-0. Hmm …
England and Belgium know each other very well. They have played 23 times over almost a century of competition. England lead the series with 15 wins against five draws and three defeats. Belgium won the group match at this World Cup and defeated the Three Lions 1-0 to claim first place in the group. The two teams have already met three times on Saturday in the World Cup, with a draw (1954), an England victory (1990) and this year's victory in Belgium.
Change to the lineups, but Kane and Lukaku will start
At least England's Harry Kane and Belgian Romelu Lukaku will come to their side today. Kane comes first for the Golden Shoe, which comes into play on Saturday with six goals. Lukaku trails with four. Your attacking opponents, Raheem Sterling or Eden Hazard, will also start.
The Three Lions mixed up their remaining lineup and made five changes from the side that lost to PK in Croatia. Belgium made two shifts, most notably Thomas Meunier, who returns from suspension.

"The last thing players want to do when the dust settles on their semi-finals is a meaningless match to compete for a largely pointless prize." – Louis van Gaal, which led the Netherlands to third place in 2014.
It's a game that is not asking "Who?" Or "When?" The question about the game is "Why?"
Plays for third place.
Belgium and England, who have emerged from historically disappointing losses, will once again have to compete for the bronze medal at the 2018 World Cup. The game is about very low bragging rights and, for FIFA, additional net income at the expense of teams who just want to go home.
But the truth is that people see it. TV viewers are generally strong – World Cup addicts may start off their electoral drug with just a couple of games – and are usually well-fought.
Since the first game in 1934, the game was used to set world rankings, giving young players their first glimpse of the World Cup and deciding on the coveted crown, known as the Golden Shoe.
This happened for the second time when the game was played. In 1938, Brazil met Sweden and the Canarinho star Leonidas scored two goals to secure the title.
Twenty years later, Frenchman Just Fontaine used the game to expand his leadership. He scored four goals in the game against West Germany and finished the tournament at 13, a record that was seriously challenged only once (by Gerd Müller, who needed a hat-trick in the third-place match in 1970 to tie Fontaine, but was ) for the first time in the tournament.)
This year, the two top scorers of the tournament – the Englishman Harry Kane and the Belgian Romelu Lukaku – may perform.
Will you? Managers often use the third-place match to give players who still have time on the field the opportunity to experience the World Cup.
The other thing about this game is that there are very often many goals to let the mountains take pressure from the players for the first time in weeks.
It is decided whether the match for third place has a soothing effect, which comes back on horseback for discouraged teams.
The West Germans won the match for third place in 1970 and won it four years later. But the Dutch did not get the same boost in 2014.
"This game should never be played," said Dutchman Louis van Gaal. "I said it in the last 10 years."
It was played, and his team defeated the Brazilians, who were still affected by the 7-1 semi-final against Germany, 3-0 The Netherlands have not qualified for this World Cup. Brazil?

Players under consideration
The starting positions are likely to change, perhaps significantly, from the semi-final matches for both teams. This makes every prediction cloudy. But when they play, all eyes will be on England's Harry Kane and Belgium's Romelu Lukaku perhaps the best reasons to watch this consolation game. Kane leads the Golden Boat classification with six goals, Lukaku has four. Lukaku has all fired from the open game. However, since the second game of the tournament, he has scored no goals, which has led to Belgium's semi-final victory against the French. Half of Kane's goals came from the penalty spot. His last goal he scored in the second round against Colombia – from the penalty spot.
