Governor Justice and Senator Manchin released statements on the death of senior footballer Alex Miller.
"Today, the tragic loss of Roane County High School football player Alex Miller breaks our hearts, and Cathy and I are praying – with all of us – for Alex's family, friends, and the entire community in Roane County unimaginably difficult time.
I would also like to offer our support for everything that can be done to help those affected by this terrible tragedy in this time of grief. "This young man was taken too early. Today, all West Virginia mourns with the community in Roane County, "said the governor.
"Gayle and I are deeply saddened when we learned of the tragic death of Alex Miller last night, it's hard to hear that someone so young and talented has left us soon." Roane County High School Students, Teachers & We Think and praying about the second community, and my co-workers and I are ready to support the family and the community while mourning this tragic loss, "said Senator Joe Manchin.
The Head of Roane County Schools, dr. Richard Duncan sent a press release stating:
Alex Miller, senior at Roane County High School, passed away late Friday night after collapsing during a football game at Clay County High School.
Miller received medical treatment immediately and was taken to a local hospital, but these efforts ultimately failed.
The game was initially suspended until Saturday night, but as of Saturday morning, the game was suspended indefinitely until a future decision on his resumption.
The administration and consultants at Roane County High School have received offers to support and support colleagues from around the world, and are now focused on helping their students, staff, and community at this difficult time.
The school is made available to students, staff and community members to meet and talk with counselors and local pastors on Saturday afternoon.

Roane County High School officials say a footballer died on Friday night after collapsing on the pitch.
