KCAL9 News anchors Juan Fernandez and Sara Donchey were on the air as the Los Angeles area was hit by a strong earthquake Friday night.
Donchey said during KCAL9's evening news program. "We make sure that nothing comes down here in the studio."
The 7.1 earthquake, whose epicenter was located about 200 kilometers northeast of Los Angeles, was felt throughout the city and lasted more than 10 seconds. This can be seen in the video of Fernandez and Donchey's reaction.
"This is a very strong earthquake," Donchey said a few seconds later, seizing Fernandez's hand. "8:21 here and we are experiencing tremendous shaking, I think we have to stand under the desk, Juan."
