Reducing carbohydrates affects all bodies differently. Some people may succeed in following a low-carbohydrate diet for weight loss, while others may not believe it to be sustainable – and that's fine. Others deliberately abstain from carbohydrates for health reasons such as the metabolic syndrome or diabetes (cutting unhealthy carbohydrate-rich foods lowers blood sugar). Sam Presicci, MCN, RD, LD, CPT, chief dietician at Snap Kitchen, reiterated this to POPSUGAR and said that she would not recommend a low-carbohydrate diet to each of her clients, since no two people are alike.
"However, I think many people are benefiting from this type of food, low carb eating can lower blood pressure, increase insulin sensitivity, help lose weight, balance hormones, reduce the risk of chronic illness, and more." explained. "It often means less cravings for sugar and less hunger throughout the day, both great benefits." But here is one thing that most people need in their lives: dessert. If you are on a low carbohydrate diet or just want to eat low-carbohydrate sweets, you should know that it is possible to find goodies that are not filled with carbohydrates. But you know: dessert is still dessert. Even a low carbohydrate dessert has added sugar, and you should not eat too much, Sam said.
"However, the benefit of a low-carbohydrate dessert over a more traditional dessert is the following: A lower sugar content leads to a lower blood sugar response, which means that your energy level stays more stable and you no longer crave the sweet stuff." Look in advance low-carbohydrate desserts directly from Sam and a handful of other dieticians. Some are exact recipes, others are delicacies that you can tailor to your liking, and some are items that you can buy online. Besides, they all sound delicious!
