A man is accused of beating his estranged wife with two cars before stabbing her with a machete on Thursday morning in a fatal Bronx attack, New York police said. One-year-old Noelia Mateo is unconscious at 7:00 am in Ellsworth Avenue and has multiple stab wounds. The woman was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, the New York Police Department said in a statement.
NBC New York, citing sources of law enforcement sources familiar with the matter, reported that the attacker had run down the woman in the hospital and then got out of the vehicle and into the woman's car and drove over it again before bringing it with him a machete attacked. The NYPD confirmed these details and said the pair was alienated.
Victor DiChristina told NBC New York that he had seen the attack and initially thought the man was trying to help the woman who was under a car, but then the man got in the car and ran over it.
After seeing the man stabbing the woman with the machete he said was about 20 inches long, I ran over him and yelled at him to stop him. 1
No arrests were made, the NYPD said Thursday night.
