Manchester United Player ratings: Anthony Martial good, but Daniel James poor against Wolves – Samuel Luckhurst

David de Gea

Responded well to make sure Raul Jimenez's header did not bounce off him, but could not do anything about Ruben Neves' crackerjackers. 6

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Again imperial in defense and had to face a shaky starter with Daniel James. Not as dominant as the wolves, improved after the break. 6

Harry Maguire

The newly signed United Center halves usually fought at the start and Maguire remained clear for 45 minutes. Then a foul and a miscue let the wolves back into the game. 6

Victor Lindelof

His pass against Chelsea was bad and it was worse at Molineux. Almost gifted gave the hosts a chance to equalize, but recovered. 5

Luke Shaw

Missed an early duel, but soon after prevailed against the Wolves and proactively defended the goal. Adama Traore was a handful after the break. 6

Paul Pogba

It took some time for him to get going again, but he made sure that Marcus Rashford had the first chance. Won the punishment and wasted it. 5

Scott McTominay

Rusty and the United coaches were in his case. McTomay helped to put the train together for the start, but was lukewarm. 5

Daniel James

His promotion to starter was probably always too early and so did it. Stressed to control or hold the ball, was booked for diving and his crossing was bad. 3

Jesse Lingard

First started too far forward, but crashed deep into the net, playing a key role. His 1-0 win was costly. 5

Marcus Rashford

After an excellent cross from Anthony Martial in the 19th minute, the assistant succeeded for the Frenchman's breakthrough. Quieter in the second half. 6

Anthony Martial

Should have been bolder to hit Rashford's cross, but clinically ended eight minutes later. After that much smoother on the ball. 7

Subs

Juan Mata

Did little. 5

Mason Greenwood

No time to impress. N / A

Andreas Pereira
