The surprising announcement and release of this new Mario Kart 8 content comes just days after Nintendo has raised more DLC for the racing game. At the time, Nintendo did not say anything about what the content would be, but now we have it.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sold 9.22 million copies on March 31, making it the second most commercially successful game on the console, behind only Super Mario Odyssey (10.41 million copies sold).
The next Mario Kart game is Mario Kart: Tour for mobile devices. It will mark the franchise's debut on mobile platforms, and considering the size and appeal of the franchise, it could be Nintendo's next big success story. The game is scheduled for release in March 2019.
In other Mario Kart news, Nintendo today announced a partnership with Mattel to release Mario Kart Hot Wheels – you can see them here.
