Matthew McConaughey joins faculty at the University of Texas at Austin



McConaughey, who graduated from UT in 1993, will be a faculty member of the Department of Radio Television Film at the Moody College of Communication, according to a press release from the university. McConaughey has been a visiting professor since 2015, but that makes it official.

"We are proud to officially welcome Professor McConaughey to our world-class faculty," said Moody College Dean Jay Bernhardt. "Matthew cares deeply about our school and our students, and we are delighted that he is putting his time and talent to work to prepare the next generation of media leaders and innovators." Teaching the script in the movie production class, but now the actor's name is solely on the syllabus.

"It's the kind of class I'd like to have when I was in film school, and when I've worked with these students in the classroom I have the opportunity to prepare them," McConaughey said.

McConaughey is more than qualified with an Oscar and over 50 films that are on the program alongside television shows. He also has experience as a producer and is best known for this role in his season of "True Detective" Drawl, which is the class for you.

McConaughey also has the role of "Minister of Culture" to create an epic fan experience for UT's new basketball arena, which will open in 2021
