According to Auto Express, Mercedes-AMG boss Tobias Moers has confirmed the plans for an AMG version of the just revealed Mercedes GLS SUV. Of course, the GLS is the direct competitor to the BMW X7. As we have already reported, BMW M has no immediate plans to build an X7M. "Markets have promised us that they would like an AMG version of the GLS," said Moers.
Mercedes chief for SUV development, Dr. Ing. Andreas Zygan, for the AMG variant still sounds gung-ho: "We have many customers for AMG, so it would make sense to build an AMG version of this car, but we can not talk about the timeline or the market launch of this car but it will be natural. "We have not yet heard a similar statement regarding any of a possible X7 M from anyone at BMW. Shame.
