BARCELONA, Spain – Lionel Messi has broken an ankle on his right arm and will now be suspended for about three weeks.
Barcelona announced on Saturday after Messi had left the Spanish league match in the first half at Camp Nou Stadium against Sevilla.
Messi tried to get the ball back when he ran into the defense of a defender and fell in the 17th minute. As he tried to cushion his landing, his right elbow bent.
He had visible pain and was treated by team doctors. They wrapped his elbows with bandages and the playmaker tried to keep going, but he finally left the field.
Messi was taken to a clinic and the club said tests showed a "radial bone fracture". At least, Messi will miss Inter Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday, and the classic against Real Madrid next weekend.
