A Uber driver named Jason picked up his passenger early Wednesday evening on the 1050 IronPigs Way in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
The driver had to drive about 112 miles to 123-01 Roosevelt Avenue in Queens to find a hefty fare during the heart of the rush hour, but necessary costs. Jason and his co-driver talked well to pass the time until they finally arrived at Citi Field around 8pm.
Rajai Davis got out of the car, quickly dressed in a Mets uniform, and crushed a pinch less than two hours later – three times home run to earn a curtain on the Mets' 6-1 victory over the Nationals.
"Well, it was a normal day off," Davis said after his whirlwind was over. 1
But soon Davis came to Citi Field in the third inning, watching manager Mickey Callaway around the fifth or sixth. On the eighth day, just after Juan Lagares put the Mets ahead 3-1, Davis was announced as a prize-taker. He fouled five squares against Sean Doolittle before finally slamming a three-round shot into the left field.
"I just want to see the ball, hit the ball on that cute part of the bat," Davis said.
It was not the biggest home run in Davis' career. He had a shot in two runs with the eighth inning, which triggered Game 2016 of the World Series for the Indians in 2016. Callaway was also on duty for this game, and when told that the stakes were not that high for this homer, he replied, "It felt that way to me."
"Everyone loves Raj," Callaway said. "He is the man."
As for the overall damage of the Uber tariff, which must include a price surge?
"Not sure, but I will not pay this bill," joked Davis, who later estimated $ 230.
