Inspectors confirmed that the adjacent buildings are safe.
The building collapsed at 5775 Collins Ave. was the 12-story Marlborough House, which was approved to be demolished to make room for a new condominium building, according to real estate developer Multiplan Real Estate Asset Management.
Police said there was a demolition permit on the file for the site, but no implosion permit. Demolition refers to the general process of demolishing a building, while implosion is specific to the use of explosives to quickly destroy a structure.

Winmar Construction, the general contractor of the development project, said that a "construction accident" occurred during the allowed demolition, according to company president Luis Leon.
Leon told Allied Bean The demolition was commissioned to substructure, which was responsible for the demolition work. Allied Bean Demolition did not respond immediately to CNN's request for comment.
The person who was injured in the collapse was a project manager from Allied Bean Demolition, Leon said.

Vicky E cheverri posted a video on Instagram of dust that filled the air after the building collapsed.
Adam Thompson, who lives in the 57th and Collins near the collapse site, filmed the rubble heap in the aftermath.

Silvina Chinni took pictures of the collapse of the beach.

The 5775 Collins Avenue property is being developed by Multiplan Real Estate Asset Management, which aims to build a "boutique enclave by the sea". according to the company website. The new development will include up to 87 luxury residences and will include a beach-facing pool, lounge and social area, the company said.
Multiplan Real Estate Asset Management did not immediately respond to CNN's requests for comments.
