Fahrenheit 11/9 Director Michael Moore warned on Friday night Real Time non-Trump supporters. "You must listen this time," he pleaded with the cameras, "because he will win the 2020 election."
"Even if he does not, he will not go," moderator Bill Maher added.
Maher had Moore on his show four months before the 2016 election, and they noticed how few seemed to believe them when they predicted Donald Trump's victory. Moore hopes people will listen now, but his hopes are not that high.
"[Trump] will not go after the second term if he does not have to, if nobody detains him," he said. "This man believes in being president for life."
The documentary filmmaker, who stood behind films such as Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/1
"He's now president for life, president for life, no, he's great," Trump told China's president Xi Jinping, CNN reported. I think it's great, maybe we'll have to try this one. "Vice President Mike Pence also compared Trump with Teddy Roosevelt, who has served two terms.
"He loves the dictators," Moore continued. "I tell you, my friends, if we do not stop now, you'll look back on this show when we all fool around and talk about The Maid's Story but that's the moment."
Earlier in the show, Maher and his guest whined Bradley Whitford Moore for recording The Handmaid's Tale but he promised that he would have "a serious point".
"The best part of the show are the flashbacks in which [Elisabeth Moss’ Offred] tried to figure out where the time was when it was too late?" Moore said. "Where was the point where we all got up if we just did something?" Fascism, Moore and Maher agree, "happens in small steps."
So what should the American public do? "I join one million other people surrounding the capital of the United States," he said, referring to efforts to extend Trump's appointment of a new Supreme Court.
In a hotter moment on the show, Moore screamed like the GOP game is not fair. "They go into magical thinking and they go," A fertilized egg is a human being! A fertilized egg is a human being! "He exclaimed." And they keep saying it and they have millions behind them. When do we start to talk [Democrats] like that?
