John Beilein secured his first engagement in the 2019 recruiting class – and it's a big one.
Four-star forward Jalen Wilson announced his decision on Wednesday in a statement posted on Twitter
The 6-foot-6-small striker from Denton, Texas, was one of the top players on the Michigan recruiting board. On May 13, he received a fellowship offer from Beilein during an unofficial visit to Ann Arbor
Wilson is widely regarded as one of the finest in his class. He is ranked 34th in the 247Sports Composite Ranking, eighth in the class, and the third best player from Texas. After the 247Sports Composite, Wilson is the UM's highest-engagement since it arrives in the 2014 class

Last winter, he had averaged a team-high 16.2 points for Denton Guyer High School, adding 6.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists while filming 54 percent (40 percent of 3). MaxPreps ranked Guyer, who has a 38-2 record as the best high school team in the nation.
Wilson played on the adidas Gauntlet AAU circuit this spring averaging 19.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
Wilson recently released a top six consisting of Michigan, Kansas, Baylor, Marquette, Oklahoma State and UCLA.
The Wolverines have been connected to Wilson since April.
Earlier this month, Wilson told Adam Zagoria that he was named after him the former Michigan star Jalen Rose, and that his mother loves UM.
The two parties quickly got hot. In mid-April, Beilein and assistant coach Luke Yaklich made a home visit. Beilein was seen as Wilson played with his AAU team later this month.
Michigan is also preferred to the 4-star point guard D.J. Karton, who holds an offer and the Wolverines named one of his finalists.
Earlier this year, Beilein signed the Nr Nation 11-place class for 2018 addition of 4-star forward Ignas Brazdeikis, Brandon Johns and Colin Castleton, 4 David DeJulius and 3-star Guard Adrian Nunez. It was Beileins highest class since 2012, when he signed Mitch McGary, Glenn Robinson III, Nik Stauskas, Caris Levert and Spike Albrecht.
