Microsoft plans to use the new Iconography style of Office for Windows 10

Microsoft introduced some beautiful new Office icons yesterday. The company announced the new office iconography as part of its comprehensive overhaul of Office as a platform. And although Microsoft did not mention that other products, such as Windows 10, would use the same iconography style, the video for the new office icon design included Windows 10 with these new logos.

The video included apps like Photos, Mail, Calculator, Calendar, File Explorer, and Microsoft News with the new icon style in the Start menu, and they look really good. And that, of course, led people to speculate whether Windows 10 would eventually receive this new style of symbols. The shots on the Office video are probably just concepts, but it now seems Microsoft really wanted to bring the new iconography to Windows 10.

"Creating a common system while designing 10 icons is a big undertaking. Now that we've set up the system, we'll be scaling it all over Microsoft, "said Jon Friedman, head of Microsoft Office Design, in response to a question about the Office icons. In another response, Friedman said the office icons are just the beginning of a "cross-company effort to update all icons in the same style." For other products, Windows 10 is probably one of the first products to receive the new design.

After all, these new icons are inspired by the Fluent Design system of Windows 10. Therefore, it makes sense to use the same iconography under Windows 10. But of course we do not know Microsoft's plans for the new iconography here. We may have been able to get some of the standard Windows 10 apps in 2019 with Windows 10 19H1, or it could take even longer.

Thanks for the tip, Luke !
