The Closed Beta of Minecraft Earth was launched on Android in Seattle, London, Tokyo, Stockholm and Mexico City, announced the developer Mojang today . If you are lucky enough to receive a beta invitation and live in one of the launch cities, you can start playing the augmented reality mobile game right away. To play, you need an AR-compatible device running Android 7 or higher.
With today's launch of Minecraft Earth the Android release has been progressing somewhat more slowly since the beta release than it did on iOS last month on Apple's operating system. However, Android users will have access to the Rubies game currency before launching on iOS. In a blog post announcing the launch of the Android beta, the developer of the game states that the currency can either be earned by playing the game or purchased directly. All rubies purchased are attached to a user's Xbox Live account and transferred to full version.
First Announced in May Minecraft Earth is an augmented reality version of Mojang's open-world crafting game. Mojang's ultimate goal with the game is to cover the entire planet in Minecraft blocks, so you can tinker with them and then explore your structures with other players.
