A Minnesota woman suspected of killing her husband and then a woman in southwest Florida was captured Thursday night in a resort in southern Texas
A US Marshals Service statement said that two deputy Marshals Lois Riess, 56, arrested. 30 o'clock in a restaurant in South Padre Island, Texas. South Padre Island is a beach resort community 43 kilometers from the crossing to Mexico.
Riess had been on the run since at least the end of March, when her husband, 54-year-old David Riess, was found shot dead in their home in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. She became the subject of a nationwide hunt for her.
It was reportedly seen on March 23 at a convenience store and casino in North Iowa. The authorities released a video in which Riess approaches the cashier in the store, buys a sandwich and then asks directions south of the state. The shop is next to a casino, where the authorities say Riess spent the day gambling before stopping at the gas station.
On March 23, David Riess's business partner called the authorities and asked them to check on him. The partner said nobody had seen David Riess in more than two weeks. The authorities found David Riess & # 39; body in his house with several shots.
They could not tell how long he was dead and could not find his wife.
Learned Authorities Lois Riess may have been in the casino in Iowa, but she was already gone when they arrived. Then they found out she was in Florida.
Investigators believe she used the same weapon that killed her husband to mortally shoot 59-year-old Pamela Hutchinson. They believe she killed Hutchinson to assume her identity, and took Hutchinson's car, which was later seen in Louisiana and Corpus Christi, Texas.
RISS SUV was found abandoned in a Florida park.
