MLB Playoffs: Gemini, Rays dig 0-2 holes in ALDS and here's what the story says about their chances to come back

The Minnesota Twins suffered a blowout loss to the New York Yankees, and the Tampa Bay Rays were ousted by the Houston Astros on Saturday in Game 2 of their respective American League Divisional Series in just under one. In the Best of Five series, which will resume on Monday in Minnesota and St. Petersburg, the twins will follow the Yankees 2-0 – as well as the Rays to the Astros.

Twins and Rays Fans Perhaps you are looking for a good side ̵

1; a bearer of hope in the history of the five-game series, stating, "Yes, a comeback is possible." We have good and bad news. The Good: A comeback is possible . The bad: It is unlikely.

According to Baseball Gauge, home teams that have won 2-0 in a 2: 2: 1 format have won 28 of the 31 series – or 90.3 percent. A majority (58 percent) of these 31 teams won the series in three games as part of a clean sweep. Only 13 percent of the series achieved a winner-take-all game 5.

Here's the full breakdown, rounded to the nearest whole percentage:

  • The 2-0 team wins in three: 58 percent

  • 2: 0 team wins in four: 29 percent

  • 2: 0 team wins in five: 3 percent

  • 0-2 team wins in five: 10 percent

Who were the three teams that out of two Defeats came to win the game? Series?

The last event occurred in 2017, when the Yankees stormed back against Cleveland. This was the first time in more than a dozen years that the previous instances were reserved for the ALDS 2003 (the Boston Red Sox over the Oakland Athletics) and the ALDS 1999 (again Boston over Cleveland). For some reason, it did not happen in a NLDS – and will not go down this year as both series are 1-1 draws.

The chances are obviously very good against the Twins or the Rays as fourth team made the comeback. But Twins and Rays fans should stick to the hope that exists – even if there is not much of it.
