Infinity Ward has unveiled a brand new twist on Gunfight, which is now live in the Open Alpha of Modern Warfare, before ending on August 25th.
After a series of teasing and obvious leaks, the 2v2 Gunfight Alpha for Call Of Duty's upcoming release, Modern Warfare, was finally released on PlayStation 4 on August 22nd. It was planned to go live one day later and run through to the 26th of August, but Infinity Ward pressed the live switch prematurely.
Since then, many players – both casual and professional – have been managing Alpha and the reactions have been quite positive. However, as they continue to tweak and make changes, developers will add some new content for testing ̵
Commenting on the Subreddit "ModernWarfare," Infinity Ward's Communications Manager Ashton Williams explained the current status of the remaining days of Alpha – including bug fixes and these changes.
"We're not done yet! Over the weekend, we'll add a new map and a Gunfight variant to the rotation!" She wrote. The players, referred to as the "pickup" variant, will be put into a shooting game with only one gun and will have to collect loot – including weapons and grenades – on the compact cards to build up an arsenal for that particular action round.
Williams's contribution to the additions to the Modern Warfare Gunfight alpha.
For Call of Duty fans without a PlayStation 4, though, they'll have to wait for their turn to play Gunfight and This new variant, in which Williams blasted another alpha's hopes for cold water.
After a fan had asked if there would be "any love for anyone without PS4," Williams said, "PC and Xbox players will get their hands on Gunfight during the beta! "With a smiley face.
Whether this new variant of the 2v2 action lasts for a long time or not, remains to be seen, but could be an indication of a possible full-fledged fight Royale mode available shortly.
The 2v2 Gunfight Alpha runs until Sunday, August 25th.
