Another big update is coming soon in Monster Hunter World. Capcom will release a new patch for the PS4 and Xbox One versions tomorrow, April 18th, featuring new gear, another Elder kite, and a new kind of quest for the game.
The update is scheduled for 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET (1 AM BST on April 19). Above all, it introduces a new elder dragon to hunting: the gilded Kulve Taroth. "Wrapped in a heavy golden cloak, this blinding threat is fast approaching and it's up to you and your hunting party to work together and reject it at any cost," Capcom said in a post on the PlayStation blog.
On the side of Kulve Taroth a new kind of hunting can be found: Victories. These are temporary hunts where all players can participate in the Gathering Hub. This means that up to 16 hunters – split into four teams of four – can work together to hunt the same Kulve Taroth and make progress along the way. "The primary purpose of this siege is to reject Kulve Taroth, but his golden shimmering coat happens to be a collection of shiny weapon relics he has collected during his journey through the New World," Capcom said. "We do not have much information about when and where Kulve Taroth has accumulated all these relics, so the type and quality of these weapons (ie type and statistics) is entirely up to fate."
In addition to weapon relics, players can purchase new Elder Dragon materials and use them to craft new Kulve Taroth α and β armor sets and a new Palico gear set. Capcom is also launching two new multi-layered armor sets in the update.
The Kulve Taroth siege begins on April 18 and takes place in a new area, the Caverns of El Dorado. It will only be available for a limited time, though Capcom says it will return sometime in the future. You can see some screenshots of Kulve Taroth and his new armor sets.
