Nancy Pelosi – the most senior and powerful woman ever to hold an elected office in American history ̵
The GOP did not try for the first time to make the 2018 elections a referendum on the potential leadership of Pelosi. For more than a decade, the Republicans have started round after round of shameless attacks against them. For example, during the 2010 election, the GOP invested $ 65 million in ads that demonized it. And in early 2018, one of three ads by the party targeted them in one way or another.
However, it was all unsuccessful: the Democratic Party voters supported the most marginal democratic candidates ever seen in the polls in the midterm elections, and in November a record number of women brought to Congress – almost 90 percent of them are members of the Democratic Party.
Now, the same Nancy Pelosi, who has often been denigrated by rights, has just achieved one of the most public defeats against Donald Trump's presidency and perhaps the consistent impact on politics following the defeat of his efforts to lift the Affordable Care Act.
It is more than fitting that Trump had his previously most embarrassing loss by one hand older, more politically experienced woman. It certainly will not be his last.
The Republicans fear Nancy Pelosi because she has teflon skin and a steel spine – and because she is a progressive woman who exercises power with the utmost power and without a moment's apology or uncertainty. To win the spokesman's hammer a second time reminded us once again of Pelosis' mastery of the legislative process. Last week, the whole country learned that it faces President Art of the Deal, a one-sided and almost unfair fight.
Pelosi did not hesitate to confront the President before, during or after the closure negotiations; She also called his empty bluff as he marched into the Capitol to save the state of the Union. On both occasions, the speaker proved that she is not just equal to Trump and her allies, but that she is their superior at every level.
The proof lies in the pudding: at the reopening of the government, the president agreed with the president to the same position that Pelosi held from the beginning. Instead of a beautiful wall, the Republicans saw their leader cave.
In the days before Trump's surrender Pelosi had already received high approval, while his numbers plunged the other way. In some polls, Pelosi has become more popular than Trump and has apparently deleted all of those millions of dollars in negative ads within weeks.
The best part of all? This is just the beginning of Pelosis speech.
With the reopening of the government, it is in the best position to channel all of the efforts of House democracy into asking for more accountability from the President and his entire network – whether this is finally the case for the relationship between Russia and China the Trump campaign, investigation of allegations of corruption at every level of government, or answers to heartless policies, such as B. Separation of families at the border. I can not wait to see how she will provide every tool she has at her disposal.
And while the Democrats prepare for the primary and parliamentary elections in 2020, this demonstrates the leadership of Pelosi and the US Senate minority leader, Chuck Schumer, DN.Y .. The party can count on them Can win a fight against Trump.
At a time when Donald Trump should focus on his re-election, the shutdown showdown has brought some of the lowest approval of his presidency. And because he did not keep his basic promise to build a wall, he may have broken his foot. Even the conservative pundit Ann Coulter is not satisfied with his deal.
In Nancy Pelosi, our country is a perfect example of why we should never choose our leaders because of the attacks of political opponents. We should remember that she, like many other Democratic leaders, has withstood pejorative statements for years and can still take an unquestionable leadership role when our country desperately needs them. Already in the summer of 2017, Pelosi was asked for criticism of critics the media and within her own party asked if she was worthy of her position among the House Democrats in the face of Republican saviors against her. She replied, "I am a Masters legislator. I am a strategic, politically astute leader. "
" [Republicans] will always be a goal, "she added," and usually they are targeting the most effective leaders. Last week, the speaker showed beyond a doubt that she was absolutely right.
