The launch of the NASA's ICESAT-2 and Final Delta II Rocket is due in September, bringing with it all kinds of excitement.
NASA has invited an invitation to social media users to launch the Ice, Cloud and Land Elevation Satellite-2, or ICESat-2, aboard the Delta II rocket of the United Launch Alliance. The launch, which will not take place until 12 September, will bring netizens to Vandenberg Air Force Base near Lompoc, California. Social Media accreditation for the ICESAT 2 launch has begun on Friday, July 6, and the application deadline is June 22, 23:59 EDT (9:29 AM IST).
NASA's ICESAT-2 measures the altitude of our home planet with emphasis on changes in the ice sheets, glaciers and sea ice of the world's polar regions. The satellite's novel laser instrument measures altitude by accurately measuring individual photons of light to the nearest billionth of a second, allowing scientists to accurately capture changes, including the effects of a warming climate.
