The spacecraft of NASA has taken this black and white image of Mars on 21 July 2019 from orbit. Astronomers from the University of Arizona have now selected it for the representation of a seemingly large dandelion flower. The picture was taken earlier this year by NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO). The NASA probe took the picture as it flew about 275.4 km above the surface.
Unfortunately, the dandelion is not a rare foreign plant that thrives in the arid Marsh Coast.
Instead, it is a large impact crater. Veronica Bray of the University of Arizona said: "This observation was originally intended to reflect the 'contact' between two types of terrain: a rocky ridge separating the rugged left side, smoother from the rocky ridge.
"But during planning, a targeting specialist decided to expand the image further north ̵

"Expanding images for extra coverage is common if the data volume permits."
The black and white photo of the MRO has one Diameter of about 5 km.
The image was taken b y the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE), which is operated by the University of Arizona.
Dr. Bray said, "This expansion has given us extra beauty.

"The steep walls of the crater are covered with embankment strips formed by material that falls down to the center of the crater.
"There are many in this case, that the crater attached to a delicate & dandelion clock & # 39; remind.
"Upon closer inspection, we also find that the exposed layer provides more information about the subsurface of Mars."
NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, launched on August 12, 2005, is due to launch on the Red Planet Jet Propulsion Laboratory operated by the Space Agency.
