Although it will be years before the first humans enter Mars, the US Aerospace Agency (NASA) is giving the public the opportunity to send their names to NASA's Mars 2020 on chips on the Red Planet Rover.
Those wishing to send their names to the Red Planet on the Mars 2020 mission may, according to NASA, receive a souvenir boarding pass and stencil their names on chips to be mounted on the rover.
last until 30 September 2019. People from all over the world sent more than 3.3 million names on board the Mars 2020 by Thursday evening, with submissions from Turkey setting the direction.
"We are preparing for the launch of this historic Mars mission project, and we want everyone to take part in this expedition," said Thomas Zurbuchen, Deputy Administrator of NASA's Scientific Missions Directorate in Washington.
"It's an exciting time for NASA as we embark on this journey to answer profound questions about our neighboring planet and even the origins of life itself," he said.
The launch of Mars 2020 is scheduled for July 2020. The spaceship is scheduled to land on Mars in February 2021
The Rover Weighs more than 1,000 kg (2,300 lbs) and seeks signs of past microbial life, characterizes the climate and geology of the planet, collects samples for future return to Earth, and research into the Red Planet prepares the way through man.
