The Los Angeles Lakers spend the day before the NBA agency officially expresses their interest in virtually every free agent on the market, exceptionally for legal reasons. Jimmy Butler, the Guardian of the '76 in Philadelphia, is the latest name that is one of their goals.
Sources: Jimmy Butler plans to meet soon with the '76s and has interest from other teams with maximum salary margin, including Lakers and Nets, and shield-and-trade opportunities elsewhere.

It is not the first time that the Lakers have been associated with Butlers, who were expected to hunt hard in the immediate Consequences of trading with Anthony Davis. While it seems their attention is currently focused primarily on Kawhi Leonard, Butler would be another great option for them to use their newly discovered maximum headroom.
The Lakers will not pursue him alone, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN:
Sources: Jimmy Butler expects to hit the Miami Heat in South Florida on Sunday. Butler / Rockets are expected to meet in LA early in the week. Sixers has not ruled out working with Butler on sign-and-trades that require Miami and Houston to acquire the All-Star Guard.

One thing that could make Butler a realistic option, however, is that he may still be on hold when Leonard makes his decision meets. While free agents like D & # 39; Angelo Russell are likely to be in a hurry to make sure the music does not stop before they find their next stop, Butler seems willing to team up with teams on complicated sign-and-trade scenarios Work that takes time to figure out, and so could still be available if the Lakers figure out what Leonard's decision will be. If he chooses another team, LA could once again come into contact with the second-best two-way wing on the market.
Butler has his warts and leaves his last three teams seemingly unhappy. These are potential red flags, but on-court his fit as an attacker who shoots a bit, defending multiple positions and performing a pick-and-roll seems to be skills that the Lakers could use when listing Anthony fill out Davis and LeBron James. He has repeatedly proven himself in the postseason, which means something and gives him an edge over other potential goals for the Lakers.
This seems a long way off, and both sides seem to have higher priorities, but if they both remain without a surefire partner after the last call in the framework of a free agency approach, a union can be a pretty good mutually beneficial Dodge scenario.
