The Celtics and Cavaliers meet on Friday night for Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals, with LeBron James and the Cavs on the verge of elimination. The Celtics, who in the recent past have only one win over one of the more unlikely finalists, need to improve their game if they want to win out of Boston, something they have achieved with almost no success in the playoffs. LeBron James remains in the dressing room until well into the second quarter and Kevin Love stays in the locker room. That could be the case for the rest of this game.

If Love can not come back, it could take 48 minutes for James to win this game for Cleveland.

The Cavaliers needed George Hill to have a great game in Game 6, and that was before Kevin Love left the game in the first quarter after clashing with Jayson Tatum.

With six quick points early, Hill delivers. Cleveland was a very different team in this series, as Hill was dedicated and aggressive, bringing the Cavaliers from a stalwart to a dynamic offensive. Like so many things on both sides in this series, Hill usually looked home and then far less on the road.

Cleveland may be worried that in a possible game 7 will change if the cavaliers can do it. In the meantime, they'll think Hill to be another 36 minutes.

The last thing the cavaliers needed in the do-or-die situation they were in was for Kevin Love. He was lying on the court holding his head in the middle of the first quarter.

That's what happened after Love suffered the worst end of a random head-to-head collision with Celtic's rookie Jayson Tatum, who fell to the ground and held his head. to the point where George Hill had to commit an intentional foul to stop playing while Love made no attempt to get up. The love went to Cleveland's locker room after carefully leaving the court. It is likely that he will enter the concussion concussion protocol that he would have to pass before his return.

Cleveland has been struggling in this series outside of Love and LeBron James to get a consistent offensive. If Love misses any time here, that could be a big problem for Cleveland's chances of pushing this series to seventh on Sunday night.

As this season began the expectation was that the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliere will meet for the fourth consecutive time in the NBA Finals.

Now the NBA is going to the Memorial Day weekend with a seemingly unfathomable scenario: first the Cavaliers and then the Warriors hosting games that could end their seasons. 19659014] That's not how it should be. Cleveland and especially Golden State should roll through the playoffs. But here we are, staring at the two teams that have governed the league for four years.

Cleveland will welcome the Boston Celtics on Friday night at the Quicken Loans Arena. Boston – a terrible street team in this postseason, going only 1-6 off the friendly frontiers of the TD Garden – will be trying to become the first team that has dethroned LeBron James to the east since … the Celtics when they joined James in 2010, his first stay in Cleveland defeated with a resounding punch.

The circumstances are different this time. The Cavaliers have won a championship this time and have come to the finals in the last three years in a row. This year's team wildly and unpredictably wiggles from pole to pole and never provides a good barometer of performance.

Still, it's hard to see how James and the Cavaliers lose this game. partly because it's hard to ever see that he loses a game that counts. As the greatest player of his generation, James always seems to find a way to get it done when it matters. But also the miserable game of the Celtics outside of Boston plays a role. Will that change in a road play game against James? That seems to be a bridge too far for a team that could not close the Milwaukee Bucks in the same situation two laps ago.

It's just a bit harder to stop James.

There's nothing better for the league than a potential holiday weekend full of climactic activity, with the league's two most famous teams competing for their playoffs.
