Some fans are especially in their arms as far as a specific change is concerned, called "straight-washing". In the original translation, a central scene showed a male character telling someone he was "worthy of love" and directly said, "I love you." In the new version ̵
This may not have been a malicious change – if you look more closely at what Japanese Reddit users were allowed to do, it becomes clear that this is more complicated due to the ambiguity inherent in Japanese original. The translation that most fans are used to using the word "love" to clarify the subtext of the scene, but "The Netflix translation is inspired by the kind of flirty, wink-wink-nudge-nudge that i-may-you-but-you- "knows-what-means-right?", it says in the original script.
Regardless, the change certainly looks bad, and it's probably not what's on it Netflix wanted to focus on this release.
