New York Giants agree to a deal with linebacker Connor Barwin



The New York Giants agreed to a contract with Connor Barwin, confirmed the veteran linebacker on Monday

Barwin adds much needed depth to the location and offers the Giants a first-class veteran presence.

He has a strong personality relationship with linebackers coach Bill McGovern from their time together in Philadelphia

He fought as a defensive end in a 4-3 system with the Eagles in 201

6, but returned to his roots as a 3rd -4 outside linebacker back – and became reunited with defensive coordinator Wade Phillips – by signing a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams last season.

Barwin missed a couple of weeks of the 2017 season while recovering from surgery for a broken bone in his forearm of 107 consecutive launches. He finished the season with five sacks and 34 tackles in 14 games.

Early in his career, the 31-year-old Barwin was one of the game's most effective pass rushers, collecting 41 sacks in 80 games for the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles from 2011 to 2015. Phillips previously coached Barwin as a Texan defensive coordinator during the Season 2011/12.

For his career, Barwin has 54.5 sacks, 6 forced fumbles and an interception.
