Newton Mail will be closed in September

Newton Mail shuts down on September 25, marking the formal end of the paid premium email app.

Newton is the latest third-party email app. It goes into the ranks of the long-forgotten (at least for me) apps like Sparrow and Mailbox as another victim of the fact that it's really difficult to develop a workable business model for email apps.

As the founder Rohit Nadhani explained in one medium, "the company explored different business models, but was able to achieve profitability and growth did not identify it successfully in the long run. "He called the competition of free apps from Apple, Google and Microsoft too much to overcome.

Newton Mail ̵

1; which began as CloudMagic – was originally a free service before transitioning to a paid subscription-based model in 2016. The service offered apps for Mac, iOS, Android, and Windows (a rarity for third-party apps) email apps, along with a host of clever features like the automatic inbox organization.

With the impending shutdown, Newton disables new signups and monthly subscriptions are not renewed. The company also works with the App Store and the Play Store to provide partial annual reimbursements that will no longer be valid in September.
