First Surprise First Round
While the Browns have retained their choice for the first pick near the vest, the Draft Day's first surprise came a little early on Wednesday night when Yahoo Sports reported tweets with racist language from Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen. The tweets were made in 2012 and 2013 and are no longer in his account.
Allen told ESPN that he was young and stupid at the time and apologized for the tweets.
Allen is considered one of the four quarterbacks Who will be drafted on Thursday night with Sam Darnold of Southern Cal, Baker Mayfield of Oklahoma and Josh Rosen of UCLA? Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson is also considered a first round opportunity like Oklahoma State Mason Rudolph, albeit to a lesser extent.
Most quarterbacks selected in a first round is six. John Elway, Todd Blackledge, Jim Kelly, Tony Eason, Ken O'Brien and Dan Marino joined the NFL in the first round of the 1983 draft.
Five quarterbacks were selected in the first round of another draft. In 1999, Tim Couch, Donovan McNabb, Akili Smith, Daunte Culpepper and Cade McNown were the first.
