NFL Power Rankings: Chiefs stay on top, Buccaneers make a big leap after signing Tom Brady

After the free agency is over and the NFL draft is around the corner, it’s time for another series of power rankings, the first rankings that take into account the free agency movement.

Oddly enough, the team at the top of the leaderboard did little in the free hand. The Kansas City Chiefs, the defending Super Bowl Champions, haven’t added a notable player from another team. They suffered some losses, such as Kendall Fuller, but they remain the best team in the league.

The reason is Patrick Mahomes. He is the best NFL quarterback and will have 1

0 of the 11 offensive starters back from the Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers. The only loss was left guard Stefan Wisniewski, who was a fill-in anyway.

The chiefs need help on the corner of the defense, but they can address this in the draft. They ensured that Chris Jones, a force at the head, continued to be defensively attacked by giving him the franchise tag.

The biggest players in this ranking are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts, both up nine places. The Bucs were 19th in my post-Super Bowl ranking, but are now 10th due to Tom Brady’s commitment. They can be much higher until November when the defense comes together.

The Colts were 20th in my last rankings, but due to the signing of Philip Rivers they are in 11th place in this ranking.

The Patriots, Brady’s old team, dropped from seventh to twelfth, which is not a big fall. It’s because of Bill Belichick. He’ll find a way to make his team competitive. You wait and see.
