The Baltimore Ravens are preparing their offensive so Lamar Jackson can make some noise this fall.
These preparations do not automatically mean that Joe Flacco will step down as the team's franchise quarterback, but the Ravens will find ways to involve the rookie. A mood from the minicamp should scare all future opponents of Baltimore.
Asked what stood out during the first training of the year, an employee of Ravens told Albert Breer "Lamar's Speed. Wow." 19659004] Quarterback successions are often chaotic. Ben Roethlisberger's recent comments and Joe Flacco's usual stoicism have highlighted the puzzles of organizations: trying to prepare for the future without angering the team's starting quarterback.
The Ravens present the most intriguing situation since Flacco has been a below average quarterback for the past four seasons and because General Manager Ozzie Newsome has decided to enlist for the most exciting player in this year's design class.
Quarterback life drives the NFL news cycle.
The Cleveland Browns plan to tailor their attack on Tyrod Taylor and Baker Mayfield's similar abilities. The New York Giants took the opposite approach, leaning heavily on their 37-year-old quarterback. The Dallas Cowboys now know that Dak Prescott is well on the way to becoming the league's highest paid signaler.
Also the roles of the Washington Redskins, which derive Derrius Guice and three initial rookie offensive candidates, are decided.
However, Jackson's momentum has already upset Baltimore, rightly so.

Jackson's mere presence in the lineup will keep the defense coordinators awake at night, even when he's relegated to a small pack of games.
Baltimore's coaching staff understands the fine line that has to go in terms of overall quarterback development while still using his extraordinary athleticism, raw speed, and great arm strength.
John Harbaugh and Co. pursue a Victor-Frankenstein-like approach to build a role for the beginner.
"We're doing it in the lab," Harbaugh told Ryan Mink from the team's official website. We did a lot of stuff around here … you've probably seen, we'll always try to get our players to do plays for us and Lamar is a guy helping us out Win Games. "
Jackson devastated the college ranks with 9,043 career yards, 4,132 yards, and 119 touchdowns. A package of games for the winner of the Heisman Trophy 2016 should go beyond the typical zone reading approach.
"They want me to use my talents on the field and be quarterback," Jackson told Mink. "That's cool with me."
Rest easy, Ravens fans. Baltimore plans to use Jackson, and the offense should be much more potent and unpredictable after ranking 27th overall last season.

The Cleveland Browns have no quarterbacks. No, wait, this description fits in with previous incarnations of the team. This Browns employee is pretty excited about two short quarterbacks.
The Baker Mayfield-Tyrod Taylor combination is arguably the most talented of the franchise since Tim Couch and Kelly Holcomb led the team to their last playoff appearance in 2002.
Both lack ideal height, and new offensive coordinator Todd Haley will adjust his offensive to highlight the strengths of each quarterback while downplaying their stature.
"The offense will be very similar," said Steve Wyche of NFL Network after talking to his head coach Hue Jackson. "In the passing game, they'll have a lower pocket set-up, both quarterbacks are about 6" tall, and they said that the way they can make passages without a lot of schematic stuff is just deeper.
"It's something Mayfield did well in Oklahoma, and they think it suits the Browns well."
Meanwhile, Jackson confirmed that Taylor is Brown's starting quarterback and " will not change," said Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.
There are concerns about deeper drops. They will make the protection for both offensive tackles more difficult. How quickly and efficiently the Browns quarterbacks set the ball free will have a profound effect on the success of the offensive.

The New York Giants have either an inspired choice or a monumental blunder by returning Saquon Barkley with the second overall pelet in the April draft.
The decision was made by 37-year-old quarterback Eli Manning's team, and new coach Pat Shurmur is fully invested in the double Super Bowl winner.
"No, I have not seen age," Shurmur said after investigating Manning's performance for 2017 after Breer . "There is no substitute for experience and he has it, so no, age does not bother me."
Manning's numbers say otherwise. The aging quarterback reached four-year completion percentage lows, passing yards, yards per shot, touchdowns, and quarterback ratings. But Shurmur noted the case of his signal caller:
" If you have a quarterback who has gained as much as Eli, he has lasted a year like last year to bring him back to where he needs it is going to be, we have to block them better, and then the quarterback's best friend is running back where to turn around, throw off the ball, and gain yards – everything goes hand in hand – play the action more believably. "
The 501 Minnesota Vikings leads the second-last season, Shurmur calls the game. Barkley can expect a heavy load to help Manning.

Matt Ryan of Atlanta Falcons became the NFL's highest paid player after signing a five-year contract with $ 150 million in early May extension.
Quarterbacks are waiting to grab Ryan's title and Dak Prescott is at the door.
"You know, in that position, it's kind of what it is," said Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones on Wednesday, after Dallas Morning News & # 39; Kate Hairopoulos. Jones continued:
" I know that Dak will have a great year this year, I hope it's up there, it'll be the way he deserves it, he was a fourth year old, no one We all see what some of the other guys who are not [Green Bay great] Aaron Rodgers, who are not Matt Ryan [are earning]will do well.
"We know this will happen. We have planned this in our budgeting for the salary cap. And I just want Dak to go out and this year's MVP, that's what I want. And we will deal with it. "
Jones clearly cut off his praise in an indirect attempt to mitigate expectations before the two sides reach the negotiating table.
Prescott regressed after winning the 2016 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year: All, What is less than an MVP caliber season, and the Cowboys can argue Prescott's value does not quite reach the level of Ryan or Rodgers.

How could anyone do that After all, forgetting Adrian Peterson's time with the New Orleans Saints?
After all, the future Hall of Famer who ran back played four games for the Saints and an average of 3.0 yards per carry before being released
Peterson has it Not noticed.
"I'm healthy and I'm ready to roll," Peterson told Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network. "If you want someone to help you win and produce a championship – be very productive – You know how to contact me.
The 33-year-old's back did not fare much better when he signed with the Arizona Cardinals, with Peterson scoring 448 yards and averaging 3.5 yards per carry in the desert before landing on injured reserve with a neck injury.
Meanwhile, the Saints face Mark Ingram's suspension for the first four games of the 2018 campaign, as the League has violated the politics of performance-enhancing substances .
Peterson said he would "definitely be open" for a return
"For whatever reason Always, it just did not work out [in New Orleans] but when I was photographed in Arizona, I showed what I could, "Time Pro Bowl cast member said." I know, once I'm back, I'll be blessed with a healthy season and show people that I'm still the best in the league. "

Jose Luis Magana / Associated Press Derrius Guice's first round did not survive the league's pre-season rating, and the talented runner fell to the Washington Redskins with the 59th overall selection.
Immature and unreported events allegedly caused free fall. How much is true can be considered controversial since he was in Washington.
The first year runner will fill an instant hole in Jay Gruden's offensive.
"He has an improvement in the passport pro, no doubt, and I think he'll be the first to tell you," said the head coach, according to John Keim of ESPN.com. Gruden continues:
" This is something that sometimes gets swept over at school sometimes, with just 20 hours of training per week, some of the basics right through to pass-blocking – it's more of a first-down-down But I've seen him playing football in his day today, he can get the football well, but really, our role for him is pretty easy to see, he's the first and the second. "
Guice He became voted best runner this year. He is also not needed in the third position because Chris Thompson is special in this role. Thompson hit 39 passes for 510 yards and four touchdowns last season before suffering a broken fibula.
These supplemental pieces were intended to reinforce Washington's 28th Rushing Attack.

The 2018 offensives lacked quality perspectives and depth. Still, several rookies could tackle this fall from the left.
The Oakland Raiders went down and selected Kolton Miller with the 15th overall point. Donald Penn's presence on the roster could make Miller tackle properly, or the Raiders might prefer youth and sportiness over experience.
"That's where he played recently," said head coach Jon Gruden at the Rookie Minicamp via ESPN. Coms Paul Gutierrez. "We like him on the left tackle, we think he's a prototype, he can bend over, he's the length you're looking for, and he's a hot kid … that does not mean it's where they go. " In the end, though.
Miller adapts the shape of an NFL left gadget to Isaiah Wynn and Austin Corbett, though both may protect the blind sides of their respective quarterbacks this fall.
New England Patriots Offensive Line Coach Dante Scarnecchia has not reduced his words regarding Wynn's potential.
"He starred in the best conference [the SEC] in America left unit, "said Scarnecchia, according to ESPN.com Mike Reiss ." We played it pretty well. We'll look at it and see how it goes on. "
The Browns plan the same with rookie Lineman Corbett.
" You'll see [Corbett] out there [at left tackle]"head coach Hue Jackson said, according to Dan Labbe of Cleveland.com," There's no question that he'll be out there, but I think you'll see that he's too
If they waver, their teams will find another place for them, but left tackle is too important not to start there.

19659003] The Dallas Cowboys have not left Randy Gregory.
Gregory could be available for the 2018 season after missing the entire last season's violation of the League's drug abuse policy for the third time, the 25-year-old defender is expected after Dallas Morning News [1 9659082] Kate Hairopoulos and Jori Epstein "He is very busy preparing his information and preparing his application," said Jerry Jones on Wednesday . "I was proud of Randy in this off-season, and I am very aware of how hard he is working to get back into the league and return to the field."
Dallas took a chance on Gregory in the second round of the 2015 draft, because his features make him perfect for the plan of Defensive Coordinator Rod Marinelli.
However, it can be difficult to get away from the game. Relapses can easily occur when a professional athlete lives outside the team structure due to lack of support.
"It's best he's back in the locker room, he's back to us," said Tyrone Crawford. "I think it will be good for him and good for us."
The 45-day window between the application and a possible decision puts Gregory on the field for Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, California. His presence will provide depth behind Demarcus Lawrence, Taco Charlton and Kony Ealy.
